College savings plan holding contest

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 3, 2013) — Kentucky students in grades K-6 have a chance to win $1,500 toward college and $500 for their school in the “Dream Out Loud Challenge.” Students are invited to submit an original drawing, poem, essay or video answering the question: “How will I change the world after I go to college?”

Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet awards $50,000 in Quick Start industry partnership grants

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 3, 2013) — The Kentucky Workforce Investment Board (KWIB) and the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet (EWDC) today announced the recipients of two Quick Start industry partnership grant awards. Eastern Kentucky C.E.P., Inc. (EKCEP) and the Northern Kentucky Workforce Investment Board (NKWIB) each received a $25,000 planning grant. These funds will assist the Local Workforce Investment Boards (LWIBs) to encourage local employers and system stakeholders to plan for the expansion and/or start-up of industry-led, sector-focused and business-driven partnership projects.

(Dec. 28, 2012)--The Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) is informing 1,090 Medicaid clients by letter of a computer security breach that may have resulted in the unintentional release of information held by Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Services (HP ES), the vendor that manages Medicaid’s information management system.
