Obituary for Tommie "Dick" Butler


Tommie "Dick" Butler, 75, of Manchester, KY, passed away Tuesday, September 11th, at the St. Joseph Hospital in London.

Tommie was born in Hazard, KY on March 5, 1943, a son of the late Lottie (Marcum) and David Butler. He was a constable for 20 years, deputy sheriff for 5 years and with the Oneida Fire Department for 30 years. On March 24th, 2017 he was saved and baptized on October 29th, 2017, and he was a member of the Laurel Creek Worship Center.

Tommie is survived by his wife, Martha (Roark) Butler; his daughter, Whitney Nicole Gibbs and husband Brayden of Manchester; and his sons: Ronald Wayne Butler and wife Hoye Melinda of Manchester, Richard Butler and wife Vickie of Oneida, Roy Wayne Butler of Wildcat, and Carl Wayne Butler of Big Wildcat.

He is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Marcie Johnson, Stanley Goins, Matthew Butler and wife Rachel, Tommie Harold Butler and Khloe Faith Butler; one great grandchild, Bentley Gibbs; and his 4 sisters: Geneva Cauldill of London, Geneive Henlsey of Barbourville, Stella Davidson of Manchester and Betty Jo Younts of Corbin.

In addition to his parents, Tommie was preceded in death by his sisters: Minnie Nick, Geraldine Rice and Darlene Webb.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 14th at Britton Funeral Home in Manchester, KY, with Joey Burns, Brad Stevens, Jerry Rice and Jim Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Hensley Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 6:00 PM on Thursday, September 13th at Britton Funeral Home in Manchester, KY.
