Obituary for Glenn "June Bug" Bishop



Mr. Glenn “June Bug” Bishop, age 57 departed this life on Thursday, October 4, 2018 in Tyner, Kentucky. He was born on Thursday, May 11, 1961 in Manchester, Kentucky to Henry and Kathleen Hensley Bishop.

He was a coal mine foreman, electrician and mine emergency technician for 33 years at the Bledsoe Coal Corporation, he was also an avid deer hunter and outdoorsman, master chef and grillmaster, as well as a mechanic and carpenter, basketball fan as well as a basketball player for Coach Bobby Keith in the 1970s. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and will be sorely missed by his family, friends and other loved ones.

He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife of over 37 years: Janet Leigh Bishop, his son: Adam Glenn Bishop and his wife Renee and his daughter: Amanda Michelle Bishop and her husband Robert. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Alexey DaKotah Bishop, Gage Bishop and Gavin Bishop as well as his father: Henry Bishop and these brothers and sisters: Wanda Fields, Joyce Metcalf and her husband Wilburn, Eddie Bishop and his wife Darlene and Darrell Bishop.

He is preceded in death by his mother: Kathleen Bishop.

A Celebration of life for Glenn “June Bug” Bishop will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Joey Burns and Rev. George Roberts will be presiding. Interment will follow in the Bishop Family Cemetery in the Valley Lane area in the Burning Springs Community.

Visitation will be Monday evening after 6:00 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Rominger Funeral Home.
