FRANKFORT, KY – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) awarded the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS Convertible to raffle ticket winner, Brian Klas of New Jersey. Klas won the vehicle in a raffle held by KSP on August 30 at the Kentucky State Fair. Klas purchased the winning ticket through an online order.

"I will enjoy this car every day and thank the Kentucky State Police and Trooper Island Camp for all they do for the citizens and kids of Kentucky. I am very much looking forward to a road trip around your beautiful state soon and in the meantime, I will proudly represent you all in my awesome new car," said Klas.

Each year KSP sells raffle tickets to raise funds to support Trooper Island, a free summer camp for underprivileged boys and girls aged 10-12 operated by KSP on Dale Hollow Lake in Clinton County. It is financed entirely by donations; no public funds are used. The camp hosts approximately 800 children each summer, providing good food, fresh air, recreation, guidance and structured, esteem building-activities designed to build good citizenship and positive relationships with law enforcement officers. Each year, nearly 800 children in the commonwealth attend Trooper Island Camp free of charge.

Trooper Island Camp Commander Trooper Jonathan Biven says the raffle raised $308,140 for the camp selling a record number of 30,814 raffle tickets.

"I am grateful for the overwhelming support from everyone that bought a raffle ticket. I hope this record number of sales this year will only last one year as we are expecting the 2022 raffle to be even bigger with an amazing vehicle," said Biven.

Every year, KSP Public Affairs Officers hold a friendly competition to sell the most raffle tickets at post level. This year's top ticket sellers included CVE Officer Stevie Douglas, Post 3 Trooper Daniel Priddy, and Post 11 Trooper Scottie Pennington, who was the top seller statewide with 3,019 tickets sold.
