Two Michigan Men arrested on Interstate 75 in Southeastern Kentucky during Traffic Stop / Drug Seizure after K-9 alerts on Narcotics in Vehicle

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's K-9 Deputy Brian France along with K-9 “Maverick” arrested two individuals on I–75 approximately 6 miles South of London in the southbound lanes early Wednesday morning August 3, 2022 at approximately 4:30 A.M..

The arrests occurred following a traffic stop conducted on a 2020 Hyundai Accent.

During the traffic stop, contact was made with the driver and it was determined that this individual was a wanted person out of Ohio for trafficking drugs.

Deputy France deployed his K-9 “Maverick” who gave a positive indication for the presence of Narcotics in the vehicle.

Deputies found approximately 10.5 ounces of Fentanyl and Marijuana along with a Glock pistol.

Both the driver and passenger were taken into custody and are identified as:

Driver - Tieyell Rosevelt Harris age 22 of Detroit, Michigan charged with:

  • FEDERAL PRISONER HELD-IN TRANSIT/COURT/SERVEOUT

Passenger - Dimetri Levine Shortie age 25 Warren, Michigan charged with:

  • FEDERAL PRISONER HELD-IN TRANSIT/COURT/SERVEOUT

Both individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

The London office of the DEA along with the Laurel County Sheriff's office will pursue prosecution in US District Court in London.

Also assisting on the investigation for the Laurel County Sheriff's office were: Laurel Sheriff's shift Sgt. John Inman, interdiction unit Landry Collett, Detective Jake Miller, Detective Taylor McDaniel, and Deputy Marcus Stigall.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root stated that drug investigations and arrests will continue in Laurel County.
