WANTED MURDER SUSPECT CAPTURED IN KEAVY COMMUNITY OF LAUREL COUNTY, KENTUCKY

LONDON, KY - At approximately 10:00 pm on Tuesday, October 3, deputies and detectives with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office and Laurel County District 6 Constable arrested Richard C. Johnson on Auger Springs Road in the Keavy community of Laurel County.

This individual was on the run after fleeing from an incident that occurred earlier at approximately 1:00 am Tuesday morning which left a 73 year-old female victim in critical condition, suffering from multiple stab and slash wounds including to her face, chest and arms.

An arrest warrant was obtained, charging him with Attempted Murder.

After being taken into custody, Johnson was transported to the Laurel Countt Sheriff’s Office for processing before being booked into the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Richard C. Johnson, age 38 of Keavy, KY is currently lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center. A CASH bond of $100,000.00 has been set.

LONDON, KY - On Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at approximately 1:00 am, deputies from the Laurel County Sheriffs Office responded to a reported stabbing at a residence in the Keavy community in southern Laurel County.

Upon arrival, deputies located a 73 year-old female suffering from multiple stab and slash wounds including to her face, chest and arms.

The victim was treated at the scene by Laurel County EMS and later transported via medical helicopter to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for further treatment of her injuries.

She was in very critical condition.

After an investigation, it was determined that the perpetrator in this case was Richard C. Johnson, age 38 also of the Keavy community of Laurel County. Johnson is an ex boyfriend of a family member of the victim.

Johnson fied the scene before law enforcement arrived and has yet to be located,

An arrest warrant charging Johnson with Attempted Murder was applied for and received. Johnson is considered to be armed and dangerous.
