Toni Hutchinson (Laurel County Correctional Center)

SOMERSET, KENTUCKY WOMAN ARRESTED WITH REPORTED STOLEN VEHICLE IN LAUREL COUNTY WAS ALLEGEDLY TRYING TO ESCAPE FROM THE CARTEL

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Joe Breeding arrested Toni Hutchinson, age 41 of Somerset early Monday morning May 6, 2024 at approximately 3:40 AM.

The arrest occurred off Adams Road, approximately 9 miles South of London after Deputy Breeding was dispatched to a business off Adams Road regarding a reported stolen truck that was being tracked by GPS by the Loudon County Tennessee Sheriff's Office.

Deputy Breeding was able to locate the reported stolen vehicle parked in the business parking lot there. Deputy Breeding noted locating the keys to the vehicle in the floorboard of the vehicle.

As the investigation continued, Deputy Breeding reviewed video footage from a nearby business where he noted observing a female walking away from the truck after it was parked.

While reviewing the video he observed the suspect walk behind a motel there but never emerged from either side of the building. It was determined that the female had accessed a lower room of the hotel making illegal entry to a room through a window.

Officers were able to determine which room the suspect had entered and with cooperation from motel management the room was unlocked and officers located the female suspect hiding underneath a mattress at the head of a bed in the room.

The extra set of keys to the stolen pickup where found on the person of the accused.

This subject told officers that she found the truck on the side of the road and took it because she was trying to escape from the cartel.

This individual was arrested and identified as: Toni Hutchinson, age 41 of Somerset, KY.

Toni Hutchinson was charged with:

  • Receiving stolen property $10,000 or more
  • Criminal trespassing – third-degree

In addition, the subject was charged on a Boyd district court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:

  • Five counts of theft by deception including cold checks

Also, the subject was charged on a second Boyd District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:

  • Theft by deception – cold checks

Also, the subject was charged on a Pulaski District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:

  • Receiving stolen property

In addition, this subject was charged on a Whitley County District Court complaint warrant of arrest charging:

  • Theft of auto $1000 or more but under $10,000

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
