Bell County Inmate Death Investigation

(Pineville, Ky) On September 19, 2015 at 07:21 a.m. Kentucky State Police, Post 10 Harlan was contacted by the Bell County Jailor, Gary Ferguson, concerning the death of an inmate, Ricky A. Goodin.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Mr. Goodin began having a seizure while inside his cell. The guards at the detention center were notified of Mr. Goodin having a seizure by his cell mates.

The guards then contacted Bell County EMS. Mr. Goodin was transported to the Pineville Community Hospital by Bell County EMS. Mr. Goodin had another seizure while at the hospital where he then died. Mr. Goodin was pronounced deceased at 5:55 a.m. at the hospital.

There is no foul play suspected. An autopsy will be performed at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort.

The case is still under investigation by K.S.P. Detective Jake Wilson.
