♦Eweprofit II School will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at the University of Kentucky C. Oran Little Research Center Sheep Unit. The center is located at 1171 Midway Rd., Versailles, KY. This school is designed for new and prospective sheep producers, although veteran producers are welcome to come and hone their shepherding skills.
Topics of discussion, demonstration, and hands-on for Eweprofit II are internal parasite control, foot care, body condition scoring ewes, breeding soundness examination of rams, and preparing ewes for lambing in January/February. The school begins at 10 a.m. (EDT), with lunch on your own from 12 to 1 p.m., and will conclude at 3 p.m. (EDT). There is no official pre-registration or fee for Eweprofit II. However, the school does ask that participants call or email Dr. Don Ely at 859-257-2717, prior to October 9 to verify attendance.♦Diabetic Support Group will meet on October 15th at 6:00 pm at the Extension Office. We will be sampling two fall vegetables for your dietary needs. Please call the Extension Office at 598-2789 to register. FREE & open to the public.
♦Our next 4-H Teen Club meeting will be on October 23rd at the 6:00 pm at the EXCEL Center (beside McDonalds). If you are between the ages of 12 – 17 and are looking for something different to be involved in and still trying to find where you might fit in 4-H could be for you. It is an opportunity to be involved in something new ...and unique. There will be at least one teen club meeting every month. They don’t all have to be attended and you can join any time. So come check it out and see if 4-H is right for you!
♦Family Fun Night will be October 22nd at the EXCEL Center from 6:00 – 7:30 pm. We will have a Halloween theme and children can wear their Halloween costume for a photo opportunity. Last year we had a great time.
♦The Kentucky Beef Conference will be October 29th at the Fayette County Extension Office. Program begins at 10:00 am. Program sessions include: Current Beef Cattle Situation Marketing Strategies for 2015, Calving During Winter Weather, Grading Feeder Calves, Breeding Stock Investment in an Expanding Beef Market and New Veterinary Feed Directive.
