Hit and Run arrest - Laurel County



Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Sgt. Brett Reeves arrested Christopher Hinkle age 44 of Village Wood Court, London on Wednesday morning December 16, 2015 at approximately 8:54 AM.

The arrest occurred off Village Wood Court approximately 8 miles south of London after Sgt. Reeves was dispatched to investigate a non-injury traffic crash at a service station in the area.

When Sgt. Reeves arrived at the scene he learned that a green colored Hyundai Elantra had allegedly struck another vehicle and had left the scene.

Sgt. Reeves was able to locate the suspect vehicle approximately 2 miles away and learned that the subject driving it had two outstanding Laurel County warrants of arrest pending and had no insurance and was driving on DUI suspended operator's license.

The driver stated he knew he hit another vehicle but thought it didn't do enough damage to stop.

Christopher Hinkle was charged with leaving the scene of an accident; driving on DUI suspended license – second offense; and failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance- second offense. In addition, this subject was charged on 2 Laurel County bench warrants of arrest charging failure to appear in court regarding charges of possession of a controlled substance – third-degree ; prescription controlled substances not in proper container; and driving on DUI suspended license.

Christopher Hinkle was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
