Man charged with willfully setting fire - Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Sgt. Brett Reeves and Deputy John Inman arrested a male subject of South Laurel Rd., London, early Monday morning, March 21, 2016, at approximately 7:30 AM.

Arrested was Daniel Day, age 36.  The arrest occurred on Lily School Road, approximately 7 miles south of London after Sgt. Reeves was dispatched to a complaint about a male subject setting a fire behind a service station and in close proximity of storage buildings nearby.

Allegedly, when the fire department arrived at the scene, this subject was found in possession of a small propane torch near the fire. Sgt. Reeves conducted an investigation on this subject who gave a false name and address – using his brother's identity.

Apparently, this subject used false information to evade an arrest on a warrant for nonsupport. Daniel Day was charged with willfully setting fire on land not owned or controlled by self; fire hazards seasons: burning before 4:30 P.M.; and giving officer a false name or address.

In addition, this subject was charged on a warrant of arrest charging flagrant nonsupport. Daniel Day was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center. Lily Fire Chief Paul Collins assisted deputies on their investigation.
