Complaint of female parked and passed out in Laurel County


Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Brandon Broughton along with Lieut. Greg Poynter and Detective Jason Back arrested an East Bernstadt woman on Wednesday evening March 23, 2016 at approximately 5:41 PM.

Arrested was:

Sabrina Cumberland age 42 of Kentucky Hollow Roa. East Bernstadt, KY.

The arrest occurred off North Laurel Road after deputies were dispatched to a complaint that a female subject was parked at a business 1 mile north of London and was passed out behind the driver's wheel.

When deputies arrived at the scene they located this subject, passed out in the vehicle, and the engine running. It took about 2 to 3 minutes to get the female awakened and to exit the vehicle.

Deputies detected the odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from this subject. In addition, deputies observed an open container in the vehicle. Deputies conducted an investigation on this driver determining that she was under the influence.

Deputies also found this subject in possession of a used needle, pills, and a large amount of US currency.

Sabrina Cumberland was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; possession of open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle prohibited; and numerous other traffic violations. In addition, this subject was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and trafficking in a controlled substance – third degree – first offense.

Sabrina Cumberland was lodged in Laurel County Detention Center.
