Greenish blue footprints result in burglary charge - Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Jamie Grimes along with CSO Joshua Morgan arrested a Sinking Creek Road resident early Saturday morning April 9, 2016 at approximately 4:59 A.M.

Arrested was Scottie Seeley age 46 of Sinking Creek Road, London, KY.

The arrest occurred off John Deere Trail, approximately 5 miles west of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint that a male subject had been knocking on the front door of a residence causing a disturbance there.

While en route to the scene deputies learned that the residents there did not know the male subject and that the male subject was yelling things that made no sense.

When deputies arrived at the scene the male subject had already left and was located walking up John Deere Trail stumbling in the roadway, barely able to stand up. Deputies conducted an investigation and determined that this subject was under the influence.

Scottie Seeley was charged with public intoxication – controlled substances and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Later on Saturday morning at approximately 10:36 AM, Deputy Josh Scott was dispatched to a complaint of a burglary at two outbuildings behind a residence on John Deere Trail, approximately 5 miles west of London.

When Deputy Scott arrived at the scene it was determined that this was the same residence where a male subject had been banging on the door in the early morning hours earlier this same day and had created a disturbance and had left the scene walking down the road and had been arrested by deputies for public intoxication.

Deputy Scott conducted an investigation on the burglaries of the two outbuildings learning that a grinder valued at $100 was found missing from the first building. In addition, the suspect had spilled a box of pond dye apparently walking in it and leaving greenish blue footprints everywhere he went.

The suspect had entered the second outbuilding leaving greenish bluish footprints there also and taking two saddles valued at $300 each. All of the stolen property was found nearby. Also Deputy Scott noted that there were greenish blue footprints on the front porch of the residence leading back to the two outbuildings.

Deputy Scott determined that Scottie Seeley's shoes were dyed greenish blue. Deputy Scott charged Scottie Seeley – the male subject who have been arrested earlier for public intoxication – this subject was now charged with burglary – third-degree; criminal trespassing – third-degree; and criminal mischief – third-degree. This subject was already incarcerated at the Laurel County detention facility from his earlier arrest.
