Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that Deputy Rick Cloyd arrested a female subject of Rush Ln., London, on Saturday afternoon, May 7, 2016, at approximately 5 PM.
Arrested was Luemma Shirkey, age 68. The arrest occurred on Rush Lane, approximately 1/4 mile east of London after Deputy Cloyd was dispatched to a complaint on a subject driving a gray Chevrolet Malibu allegedly driving recklessly.
When Deputy Cloyd arrived in the vicinity of the complaint, he located the suspect vehicle and determined that it had been involved in a minor traffic crash and had apparently hit the suspect's own driveway post as she turned into her own driveway off Rush Lane.
This subject told Deputy Cloyd that she was glad she made it home without hurting the children riding with her – a 14-year-old female and a six-year-old male.
Deputy Cloyd conducted an investigation on the driver determining that she was under the influence.
Luemma Shirkey was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense and no operator's license.
