Search warrant uncovers explicit images of children - Boone County man arrested

FRANKFORT, KY.  – Attorney General Andy Beshear and his Cyber Crimes Unit has announced that a Boone County man has been arrested for possessing child pornography.

Brandon T. Watts, 30, of Florence, was arrested July 14 on four counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.

According to the AG’s Cyber Crimes Unit investigators, a search warrant was issued in Boone County, which resulted in the discovery of child pornography and Watts’s arrest.

Watts was also served with an active bench warrant from Boone County for an alcohol intoxication charge, and is currently lodged in the Boone County Detention Center.

The work of the Cyber Crimes Unit, a division of the Department of Criminal Investigations in the Office of the Attorney General, is part of Beshear’s core mission to keep sexual predators away from Kentucky’s families and children.

“I would like to thank the Cyber Crimes Unit for their hard work and the Kentucky State Police, Post 6, for their support on this case,” Beshear said. “I have made it a core mission of my office to protect Kentucky children from sexual abuse and exploitation – and we are working every day to ensure they are shielded from online predators and pedophiles.”

Since taking office Jan. 4, Beshear’s Cyber Crimes Unit has arrested or convicted 28 sexual predators.
