Joan Yvonne Melton, 66 passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at the Well's Hospice Center at Hazard, KY. She was born on Nov. 18, 1953 at Wooton, KY the daughter of the late George and Martha Cornett Melton. Joan was a life-long resident of Leslie County and had been a member of the McIntosh Church of God. Joan enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley music and had a favorite treasured Elvis Cup. She enjoyed having McDonald's Happy Meals, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Connie was a life-long resident of Leslie County, residing at Wooton, KY at the time of her passing. She was a member of the Smilax Church of Christ, baptized in 1990. She was united in marriage to Everett Earl Whitaker on January 22, 1985 at Wendover, KY. Connie worked formerly as a teachers aide and recently as a dental assistant for Primary Care, prior to becoming ill. She enjoyed antiques and shopping for antiques. She liked to shop, holidays and tending to her flowers. She enjoyed collecting new seeds and planting new flowers. She was a good a cook and was always trying to find new recipes. Above all, Connie cherished the time spent with her grandchildren.
