Sheriff's Investigators Conducting Welfare Check on Children find Drugs & Hypodermic Needles

LONDON, KY (January 29, 2021) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root Along with Major Chuck Johnson, Lieut. Chris Edwards, Detective Taylor McDaniel who is case officer, and Bailiff Paige Vanhook arrested two individuals on Thursday afternoon January 28, 2021 at approximately 3 PM.

The arrest occurred off West 10th St. in London while Sheriff's investigators were conducting a welfare check on several children at a residence there.

During the investigation suspected Suboxone, Marijuana, and a large quantity of hypodermic needles were found and it was determined that drugs were apparently being trafficked there.

Investigators noted that a school was within 1000 feet of the residence there.

The two arrested individuals were identified as:

Erika B. Hall age 32 of W. 10th St., London charged with:

trafficking in a controlled substance within 1000 feet of school; possession of drug paraphernalia; three counts of wanton endangerment – first-degree; possession of marijuana.

John Scroggins age 32 of W. 10th St., London charged with:

trafficking in a controlled substance within 1000 feet of school; possession of drug paraphernalia; three counts of wanton endangerment – first-degree; possession of marijuana.

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
