A Wanted Smilax, Kentucky Man found with Drugs arrested with two other Subjects in Knox County

BARBOURVILLE, KY (April 24, 2023) - The Knox County Sheriff's Department is reporting that on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at approximately 10:00 P.M. Knox County Deputies observed a group of people gathered around a vehicle in the Crossroads Market parking lot.

While checking the driver of the vehicle, deputies found a clear plastic bag containing suspected Methamphetamine, a clear plastic bag containing suspected Marijuana, and a pill bottle with the label scratched off containing several prescription controlled substance tablets.

The driver, Travis D. Maggard age 26 of Smilax, KY was arrested and charged with:

  • Trafficking in Controlled Substance-1st Degree
  • Trafficking in Marijuana
  • Prescription Controlled Substance not in Proper Container
  • Operating on Suspended or Revoked Operators License
  • No Insurance
  • Failure to Register Transfer of Motor Vehicle

Travis Maggard was also wanted on a Leslie County Bench Warrant for:

  • A Contempt of Court on Possession Control Substance-1st Degree charge.

Two other individuals around the vehicle were also arrested.

Jacob T. Maggard age 31 of Gray, KY was arrested on a Leslie County Bench Warrant for failure to pay the fine on a:

  • Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence/Controlled Substance charge.

He was also charged with:

  • Giving Officer False Identifying Information when he first identified himself as someone else.

Morgan Leann Farmer age 29 of Essie, KY was wanted on a Leslie County Bench Warrant for failure to appear on numerous traffic violations.

Travis Maggard, Jacob Maggard, and Morgan Farmer were all lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
