UPDATE: Murder charge in Possible Human Remains located in Harlan County


(Cawood, Ky.) – On March 22, 2016, at approximately 11:30 A.M.., Kentucky State Police Post 10 Harlan received information about possible human remains located in a wooded area off of Mountain Oaks Subdivision, which is located near the Cawood community in Harlan County.

UPDATE: On March 22, 2016 at approximately 11:45 p.m., KSP Detective Kevin Miller charged Michael Curtis, 27, of Cawood with murder, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse.

At this time the victim’s information cannot be released until the State Medical Examiner’s Office makes a positive identification of the remains.

Detectives from Post 10 have received enough information to believe this case is involving a missing person’s case from Post 10 Harlan.

Case is still under investigation by Det. Kevin Miller.
